Community – Knowing your squad and support team
Our final word on starting 2017 and how to achieve more so you can #lovelife is to look at the people around you. Don’t underestimate the importance of a friendly smile, a word of encouragement, or simply being interested in what you are doing. Who is in your support crew? We mentioned before that most people in health and fitness seem to have a genuine interest in helping people do better at life. And if they don’t, why they would be in this industry is beyond me. Seek out those people that are genuinely interested in what you are doing, what it is you are trying to achieve and what it is that makes you happy. In practice, it can be hard work, to know who your squad is and whether they support you in your journey. We all want to be faster, to do better, to achieve more which often creates competition, but having a support network doesn’t mean you are up against that person. Aim to surround yourself with friends and family who understand where you are coming from, who will encourage you when you aren’t sure of the road ahead and provide words of encouragement and push in the right direction when you are struggling to stick to your goals – these are the people that can make all the difference.
So, I’ve made the first step and thank you! I wanted to start something which until now was always just a “thought”. I set myself the task five days ago to cover an introduction to #lovelife and then brief look into themes for Fitness, Nutrition, Mindset and Community. Future posts and articles will attempt to decipher the wealth of information on all things health, fitness and general well-being so let me know if you would like to have a say on some future topics; periodisation and getting the most out of your race calendar, carbohydrates, proteins and fats, the power of thought and building mental resilience, prevention of injury and prolonged inflammation, and an approach to injury management and correcting postural imbalance. Fitness training and nutrition resources such as the bodyweight travel workouts, the anatomy guide of ALL major muscle groups and the food diary along with householder shopper’s supermarket guide will be updated on BodiFit. I’m over the moon to be back doing what I enjoy. But my heart goes out to the people, who I might not have seen for some time but sure enough, when we catch up you show an interest, remind me to set my own new goals, to dream of what adventure I’ll be seeking out next, how to learn and grow something out of the ordinary. I’ll be putting myself into some races, travel adventures and challenges over the next few weeks and will progressively add to BodiFit events as the dates approach. With many of us thinking about change, use this year’s goals to set in place life-long happiness. I’m trusting that you, too will look forward, not behind and embrace 2017 with open arms. Time to plan ahead and make 2017 a memorable year.
